campus bw

Recently, I’ve been going around the country hosting some really amazing events on college campuses nationwide.

The program is called Campus DJ… and it combines two things that are very important to me: deejaying (obviously… lol) and education.

It’s my personal belief that when you have a solid educational background, it frees you up to really pursue your dreams and ambitions without worry of failure.

Check out the competition here… the winner goes to LA and will a brand new Mini Cooper, as well all sorts of other fun things.

Also, USA Today covered us here… check it out!

I don’t post many fliers on here… but I love this one. Lol.

Also – it’s exciting to see the now Boogie-less name reflected in the public.

Look for the new iamMICK.com website coming in June!

See you tonight.

Last night I had the privilege of deejaying a star-studded event for an amazing cause: the 2013 Delete Blood Cancer Gala at Cipriani Wall Street.

The event, hosted by Nate Berkus, was attended by Katy Perry, Coco Rocha, Anja Rubik, Derek Lam and Vera Wang.

The evening concluded with special musical performances by Lady Antebellum and Jill Scott.

You can read more at the Daily Mail here and at Elle here.

tribeca

Last weekend I deejayed the official wrap party for the TriBeCa Film Festival 2013, presented by Heineken.

A beautiful event, taking place in the Meatpacking District, celebrated the filmmakers, actors and award winners of the 2013 festival.

You can check out some pictures of the event here on Starpulse.

Congrats to TriBeCa, Heineken and Corso Communications on a great event!

We recently celebrated my birthday here in NYC with an awesome event at Darby Downstairs.  Packed house, great vibes, and I had one of my favorite musicians of all time deejay the party: Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest.  Crazy!

Special thank you to my sponsors: Gotham Magazine, Red Bull, and Hennessy VS, my lovely wife Rana, as well as my friends DJ Martin and Silver Medallion for also deejaying.

Photos were taken by the world-famous Johnny Nunez.  Check out the coverage here on Gotham’s website.

You may notice from the above picture we are in the middle of a big, exciting rebrand.  More news to come… but Mick Boogie is no more.  Moving forward: I am shortening the name to MICK… and continuing to expand into other avenues that parallel and enhance my deejaying career.  Stay tuned for the latest!

SXSW Invite small

I’m very excited to be heading down to Austin to deejay a bunch of events during SXSWi.

I’m starting off on Sunday doing one of the biggest parties of the week… Mashable’s MashBash.

Monday – I’m doing a special set during Stylecaster x Neiman Marcus event and then headed to the launch party for a start-up I’m personally involved in, Localeur. Info on that party can be found by clicking here.

Tuesday – I’ll be speaking on an afternoon panel and deejaying the VIP after-event for The Neighborhood.  More info here.

Hope to see you there!

They say rappers all want to be ballplayers, and vice versa. Well, in the real world… deejays want to be tech stars and tech icons want to rock the party.

Or at least that’s the case for us – Mick Boogie (soon to be simply… Mick… stay tuned!) and Tristan Walker. When he isn’t deejaying somewhere in the world, Mick is quickly becoming a legitimate player in the tech world by creating and investing in start-ups such as Mixstream, Stublisher and Localeur. Tristan has turned the tech world upside down – infusing new and creative ideas at iconic companies such as Foursquare, Andreessen Horowitz, and CODE2040 – and is one of the best up-and-coming deejays in the Bay Area.

It was only a matter of time until they collaborated on something big, and now it’s here. Just in time for SXSWi – Mick Boogie & Tristan Walker present to you Interactive – 2013, a customized mixtape curated by some of the biggest names in the tech and entrepreneurial spaces.

Listen to it here.

I had the honor of opening the other night for two artists who changed the face of music:  Questlove of The Roots and the legendary D’Angelo.

Obviously, you know Questo from The Roots legendary albums, and being on TV every night with Jimmy Fallon.  D’angelo has done like… 3 shows in 13 years… which is amazing, considering he has two absolute classic albums.

They decided to reconvene for a secret show last Monday at Brooklyn Bowl for a 2 man, acoustic, drums-and-keys-only show.  The results: simply amazing.

I was thrilled to be part of it.  In the early stages of my career… artists like this were the reason I became who I am now.

Check out what the NYTimes had to say.

summit

I just found out I’ll be performing at the afterparty for Adobe’s annual Adobe Summit concert featuring the Black Keys this Wednesday.

Now this will be fun.  First off, the Black Keys and I are from the same place (my hometown and their hometown are 45 minutes apart in my former state of Ohio), so this is special for a bunch of reasons.

Secondly, Adobe is one of my favorite companies to work with – we have done some cool things over the years! Summit is an amazing conference with a huge focus on digital marketing. Read more here.  This is a perfect lead-in to my week of events at SXSWi.

Can’t wait – I’m gonna plan a special set of Black Keys remixes and such for the party.  Hope to see you there.
