Shout out to one of my favorite artists… the uber-talented Drake for naming a Mick Boogie mixtape as one of his top 5 albums of all time. That’s crazy and a huge honor. Â Shout out to Little Brother as well!

Last week, I deejayed the type of event that symbolizes why NYC is the best city in the world: Esquire Magazine’s release party for their annual Big Black Book style guide. Â The event took place at the exclusive Darby Downstairs and was incredible.
Among the stars in attendance were Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Pitt and rock legend Marky Ramone. Â Musically, I had a lot of fun. Â Any party where I can play The Ramones, Jay-Z and James Brown in the same set is a great party to me… lol.
For more info on the party… check out what Celebuzz had to say by clicking here. Â Congrats to Esquire Magazine and Scott Lehmann for a job well done!
I’ll be out West all weekend doing a series of events and clubs…
Thursday Oct 27… I’ll be doing an instore at the Adidas Originals downtown location celebrating the release of EA Games’ new top seller… Need For Speed: The Run. Â The game is awesome… so if you’re in the Bay, come out.
On Friday October 28, I’ll be rocking at Roe Nightclub… also downtown San Fran. Â I love playing new spots I’ve never done before… so Friday should be really fun.
Saturday, I’ll be in Portland celebrating Halloween at the legendary Beauty Bar.
Lots more exciting stuff coming in the next two weeks, so stay tuned!
Playhouse Hollywood is one of my favorite venues in the country… always an amazing time. Â And I’m excited to be back this Saturday October 1, to begin a new monthly residency there for the winter.
This is a great time to show you a video recap (look below) from my first time at Playhouse during the summer… it’s definitely a visual spectacle. Â Shout out to my friend Ramses for the awesome cinematography.
If you’re in Los Angeles or Southern California, I hope to see you there this winter.
Just finished the new mixtape for the new season of HBO’s “How To Make It In America.” Â One of the best shows on television right now, starring Bryan Greenberg, Kid Cudi and several other talented people.
Definitely a fun experience putting the tape together for them… shout out to Broke Mogul, HBO and Decon for making it happen.
Music on the tape includes Avicii, Little Dragon, Summer Camp, Theophilus London and more. Â You can download/stream it on the HTMIIA Facebook page by clicking here.
Fashion Week is over here in NYC… and it was intense.  From the amazing Fashion Night Out event at Karen Millen (click here to see the 4AM recap video) to the release of Stylecaster’s Sounds From The Front Row 4 (click here to download), it was a busy and insane week.
Speaking of the front row, guess who was seated there at my final NYFW event? Â I think the photo above should win an award for “best photo bomb,” even though I was actually there deejaying.
I was asked to provide the music for the Sherri Hill Fashion Show which featured the debut runway appearance of the next-big-Kardashian… Kendall Jenner. Â And front row appearances from Kourtney and Kim, among others. Â Even Donald Trump was in attendance (and I saw him nod his head to the music. Â Only once… but still… lol).
You can read what Perez Hilton had to say about this by clicking here, and you can click here to watch Radar’s video of the event.
I’m really looking forward to the next FW this Spring. Â Stay tuned!
It’s Fashion Week once again in NYC… fall seems to be here, everyone is back from their summer hideaways, and the city has a renewed energy. Â Lots going on, of course, so let’s get right to it.
On Thursday, for Vogue’s Fashion Night Out, I’ll be at Karen Millen in Soho playing all your favorite cool, chill, obscure and awesome songs. Â If you’re out and about shopping, please come and say hello. Â Afterwards, we will be afterpartying a few blocks away at XIX.
Friday, I’ll be the special guest deejay for Thrashin’ Fashion featuring a performance from MIA’s protege, Rye Rye. Â This takes place at Stone Rose at Columbus Circle. Â Afterwards, I’ll be at Griffin from midnight until the lights come on.
Saturday, I’ll be at one of the most talked-about venues in NYC… The Darby Downstairs. And next Wednesday, I’ll be deejaying the fashion show for Sherri Hill, with some very special guests.
In addition, every Fashion Week, I get together with my good friends at Stylecaster and we release what’s quickly becoming known as the soundtrack to fashion week: “Sounds From The Front Row.”
This season is our 4th edition… and it’s my favorite one so far. Â New music and remixes from Chromeo, Holy Ghost, Toro Y Moi, Foster The People, The Rapture, Silver Medallion, Hercules And Love Affair and more.
You can download it at Stylecaster or on my music page by clicking here.
Speaking of Stylecaster, check my new interview feature with them here.
Lastly, if you missed Terry Urban and myself in the recent ad for Microsoft Bing… and it seems to be on tv every 5 min… lol… click here to check it out.
Have a great week!
I’m excited to be deejaying at Karen Millen for Vogue’s Fashion Night Out this Thursday!  If you’re out and about enjoying #FNOnyc, please come thru to their Soho / Prince Street location and say hello.  This year is actually Karen Millen’s 30th Anniversary so it should be an amazing time.
I’ve actually been planning a very special set for the event… so if you’re a fan of my Stylecaster / Sounds From The Front Row mixes, you’ll definitely love this event.
Hope to see you there… more info at www.karenmillen.com!
Hello all…
Lots going on over here, as usual… this time with more of a tech/social theme…
This seems to be the month of TV for me… what a blessing. If you didn’t catch the new Adidas spot that we produced running on TV every second (click here to watch and listen to it), hopefully you caught a glimpse of me during the VMA’s for Microsoft Bing’s new campaign.
Kudos to Bing for being so forward thinking and recognizing how social media and powers of search can truly impact a deejay’s lifestyle and culture. If you missed the ad last night, it’s essentially a great montage of myself and my dj partner Terry Urban discussing everything from Brooklyn and pizza to creating deejay playlists using the power of Bing.
What’s cool is… the ad initially started out with the Bing crew following us around to make a cool web piece… and it ended up becoming a full-fledged TV spot as well. You can click on the screenshot above or click here to see the video in it’s entirety.
The ad also provided the first beta look to our new music website… Mixstream. Click here to read more about it.
First Adidas and now Bing… I am now one step closer to my goal of selling Sham Wows on tv latenight… lol.
If you saw the Bing spot over the weekend, you saw our new business venture at the end of the video.  The website is called Mixstream and it’s a mixtape lover’s dream.
In this day and age of a million mixtapes, horrible music and spammy websites, there needed to be a breakthrough. Â And that’s what Mixstream is. Â It will hopefully be to mixtapes what Apple is to computers and what Target is to mass-market retailers. Â A clean-looking, easy to use, and extremely well-curated site to discover new mixtapes.
Check it out by clicking here.
It’s in beta right now… but keep checking back as the site evolves into the next level of everything right about mixtape culture.
This idea was brought to you by Terry Urban, The Corner Club and, of course, me.
Says Hypebeast:
New from adidas Originals comes this exciting and well-executed advertisement featuring everything from skate parks to low-riders and even girls with glow-in-the-dark lipstick. Clearly aimed at a hip-hop market, the video sees the likes of Big Sean and Snoop Dogg, among others, relaxing and performing while rocking their favorite adidas shoes. Set over a Mick Boogie beat, the short clip is definitely worth checking out for fans of the brand.
Says Mick:
This is super exciting and a next level evolution for my career, as well as the start of some wonderful things with adidas. Â Special thanks to them for being such a progressive and exciting company to work with. Â Shout out to my production partners 6th Sense and Frequency… some of the best musicians in the game. Â Stay tuned for many more exciting things!

Sometimes life as a deejay is amazing. Â Sometimes life as a deejay is repetitive and monotonous, like any career. Â Last night fell into the first category. Â I got a call from my 4AM homie Jus Ske like “stop what you are doing and meet me at The Darby.” Â I finished up what I was working on and headed over there… and what a night.
We ended up deejaying the top-secret afterparty for Jay-Z and Kanye’s exclusive “Watch The Throne” VIP listening event and it was amazing. Â A who’s who of pop culture in 2011 was in this room… Jay, Kanye, Nas, A-Trak, Khaled, 88-Keys and more. Â And everyone was partying to the soundtrack we provided. Â The best thing about playing for a room of music insiders is you can just play from the heart, and not worry about throwing in silly top-40 girl anthems. Â And that’s exactly what we did.
Jus started off with a great set of Jay-Z rarities and Jay/Nas collabos (“Success!”) and Jay was sitting in the corner bobbing his head, rapping with all the songs. Â The highlight for me was when he played Biggie’s “Realms Of Junior Mafia” and Jay went nuts.
Then it was my turn… as I got on, Kanye jumped up on a couch and took control of the room so I intro’d with “Dark Fantasy” and so we began. Â After running thru my favorite Kanye hits and album tracks… (my favorite: “Thru The Wire” – his favorite: “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”) it was time for the big moment: “Otis.” Â I swear, we must have stopped and restarted that song about 5 times and Jay and Kanye enjoyed the crowd mouthing every word to their new classic.
After that, I was able to dig a little deeper, playing some remixes from my Viva La Hova project, some old Kanye/Jay blends I had in the stash (Jay’s face when I mixed “Heart Of The City” over “We Major” was priceless), and even some live Jay-Z “Unplugged” audio.
The personal highlight for me was when I played “Big Brother” and Kanye basically rapped the entire thing with Jay right there. Â Seemed like a perfect way to end a night celebrating a momentous album from the two most talented people in hip-hop right now.
All in all, an amazing night. Â Check out what Page 6 had to say here and make sure you cop “Watch The Throne” when it drops on August 8th!
It’s always great to be recognized by my peers in the music world… but it’s even more special when the business world takes note. Â As a big proponent of business relationships, dating back to my internships in grad school, I was honored to make an appearance in a recent issue of Crain’s New York.
For those who do not know, Crain’s is the Billboard of the business world. Â A who’s who of corporate America read every issue. Â Kudos to them for recognizing the impact of the deejay in today’s business landscape.
Shout out to Adam Alpert, Jus-Ske, DJ Price and Rich Medina.
Read the article here.
A Tribe Called Quest is one of my favorite groups of all time… in any genre of music. Â After seeing Michael Rapaport’s amazing documentary on the group (click here), I felt inspired to put together a special Tribe mix and this is the end result.
This is NOT a greatest hits mix. Â This mix is for the true Tribe fans only… the die-hards who know every lyric and remember every interlude.
I thought it would be cool to basically create the “lost” Tribe album… with all the rare songs, demos, limited-edition remixes, and collaborations you may have missed over the years. Â I hope when you enjoy this as much as I do, and hear some things you have never heard before.
Special thank you to UNDRCRWN for the amazing artwork. Long live A Tribe Called Quest!
You can download it here.
And remember, stay tuned for Mixstream.com.
This weekend, I’m headed back to California for a couple of really cool events. Â On Thursday… I’ll be among the epicenter of Hollywood and media at the world famous San Diego Comic-Con. Â I’ll be deejaying at the Kick Off event at Sway Lounge… presented by Complex, MacAllan Scotch and more. Â Shout out to Umberto!
Saturday, I’ll be in LA to deejay at one of my favorite clubs in the country… Playhouse. Â Insane energy all night long. Â A deejay’s dream.
And then Sunday… I’ll be a guest at the famous Do-Over party… LA’s ultimate Sunday afternoon event for real music lovers. Â If you loved my Summertime mixes, you’ll love this.
See you in Cali!
Summertime is here once again. The weather is hot. Â And girls are dressing less (lol). Â What a perfect time to release part 2 of the definitive summertime soundtrack: Jazzy Jeff & Mick Boogie: Summertime 2!
The first volume from last summer has been downloaded and streamed over 500K times and this new one promises to reach even more people! Laid-back, beach-friendly, top-down, barbeque-rific music from De La Soul, Stevie Wonder, The Fresh Prince (of course!), The Turtles, Slum Village, The Pharcyde, Q-Tip, Slick Rick, The Isley Brothers and more.
We hope you love this project as much as we enjoyed making it!

I just got back the other day from a trip to Tokyo. Â It was so amazing… more than likely, it’s my favorite city on Earth besides Brooklyn. Â Been there 3 times… and every time is better than the last.
Along with my friend Jus-Ske, I was opening for Fat Boy Slim at the uber-huge Tokyo Big Beach Festival.
Thousands of kids… who LOVE music. Â Truly amazing. Â I recorded some of my set and will put it up on the site for you guys to download!
Check some of the pics above. Â The flier is after the jump, as well.
Shout out to the homie Sal at 71Eight and Feria Nightclub for bringing me over there. Â Can’t wait to go back!
This past weekend, I had the privledge of spinning music for a very good cause… The Olevolos Project for the children of Tanzania.
Hosted by actor Bryan Greenberg (from HBO’s “How To Make It In America”) and attended by Emmanuelle Chiriqui, Kid Cudi, Gina Gershon and more… the event at Le Cirque was an outstanding success. Â Pics by Mel D. Cole. Â Kudos to Brandsway Creative for putting on a great event for a good cause.
Hello and bonjour. Â I’m excited to announce I’ll be appearing at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival providing the music for The Hollywood Reporter VIP event honoring Oscar winning Jodie Foster. Â It promises to be an amazing time… as the weather, scenery and atmosphere in Cannes is unlike any other. Â Stay tuned for the recap and lots of pictures on my blog. Â Also, you can check out THR’s Cannes coverage by clicking here.
This month, I’ll also be doing an assortment of fun NYC events at places such as The Darby, 1OAK and more as well as heading to Vegas for Memorial Day Weekend. Â You can catch me at the Red Bull Pool at Aria on Saturday May 28 followed by a special guest set at Blush Nightclub later that evening. Can’t wait.
Hope all is well. Â Lots of great things going on over here, so let’s fill you in.
On Saturday, April 30, I’ll be in Miami for a private event at the stunning Adrienne Arsht Center for the Green Room Society.
The following weekend, I’ll be in Colorado Springs doing an event for the good people of Red Bull on Friday May 6 and then heading to LA on Saturday May 7 to make my debut appearance at Playhouse.
Definitely looking forward to this… as a who’s who of the dj industry have graced the turntables at Playhouse. Â Should be an awesome night!
UNICEF is hosting a night of light bites, music and open bar next week to benefit the children affected by Japan’s tsunami and earthquake.

All proceeds of the $75 pre-sale tickets and $100 tickets at the door will go to the U.S. Fund of UNICEF.
Music by Mick Boogie & Terry Urban.

SXSW was pretty amazing. Â Kudos to Red Bull for putting on such an amazing 3Style event. Â I really think they should handle music programming for the entire world. Â Between the recent parties, Sound Clashes, and now SXSW… it’s been amazing.
We had on one stage so many amazing deejays and acts… I was sincerely humbled to be considered among Jazzy Jeff, Q-Bert, De La Soul, Z-Trip, LL Cool J and more.
The pic above is kinda cool… a shot from the crowd of over 11,000 people while I was on stage. Â Insanity. Â Check out more pics from Redbull’s website here.
Vegas was pretty amazing… Red Bull put on one of the most ambitious events I have ever been a part of: Soundclash. Cee-Lo versus The Ting Tings.
I wanted to share these pictures of the event with you guys. I was deejaying from a 40 foot platform in the middle of the crowd… with 2 dualing stages on my side. It was simply put: awesome.
Shout out to La La who hosted the event, while I deejayed. Check out more pics by clicking here.
I’m excited about the recent press from BlackBook Magazine and In Touch. Â The BlackBook piece is a short interview in their “Industry Insiders” column (with a more in-depth web feature to follow soon).
The In Touch piece is another mention from the star-studded 2 Kings Dinner I recently deejayed. Â Shout out to Nadeska and Meredith.
You can find the articles on my Press page by clicking here.
This Saturday (3.12.11), I’m heading to Vegas with my good friends at Red Bull to deejay one of the most musical events I’ve ever been a part of: Red Bull Sound Clash.
2 Bands (Cee-Lo and The Ting Tings). 2 Different Styles. Doing covers, mashups, live remixes and more… based on some songs that I choose.
It’s an insane concept… and only Red Bull could dream this up. Â Â Read more here.
Plus, I’m deejaying the afterparty as well, at Studio 54. Can’t wait!
This Friday, I’ll be flying to San Francisco to play some fun classic music at 330 Ritch for their 1990-Now party. Â San Francisco is awesome… I’m sad I’ll only be there one day, actually. Â But if you’re in the Bay Area… come out and say hello.
This weekend was NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles and I was out there for the festivities. Friday night, I did a fun in-store appaearance at the legendary shoe boutique Undefeated. And of course, Saturday was the big night… the 5th Annual 2 Kings Dinner… starring Jay-Z and LeBron. Music by myself and my good friend D-Nice.
I’ve done some cool things but the clientele was amazing at the 2 Kings dinner. LeBron, Jay, Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye, Puff, Jeezy, Drake, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ron Howard, Jimmy Iovine, David Arquette and more. Best party ever. Perhaps (until next year).
Thank you to People Magazine for the great mention as well (article after the jump). Can’t wait til the next one!
This week is always pretty crazy in NYC… and last Thursday at Griffin (in addition to the regular tomfoolery that goes on every week) was an early afterparty for designer Tim Hamilton’s FW11 show. He brought in the amazing Hercules & Love Affair to dj guest deejay sets… then I rocked out until 4 in the morning. A good time was had by all. Shout to Griffin, Manny, The Bespoke Group and 718.

When I was in Chicago last month, I did a short interview with my friends at RubyHornet about how social media and the internet affects every aspect of my life. Enjoy.
It’s Fashion Week here in NYC again… 6 months really goes by fast, right? Lots of parties too… including the events I’m doing at Griffin and RDV. And once again, I’ve collaborated with my friends at Stylecaster to give you the soundtrack to Fashion Week… “Sounds From The Front Row Volume 3.” This is probably my favorite one yet… of course, there are many more to come.

This weekend, I’ll be down in ridiculously cold Dallas for Superbowl weekend at the brand new venue Cedars Social for events on Friday and Saturday nights. I haven’t been to Dallas in over a year… so I’m definitely looking forward to being back. And I hope the Steelers win!
Musically, lots of new stuff coming your way, including something I am releasing today with my good friend Terry Urban, just in time for Grammys next week. It’s called Award Tour – a fun, remixed uptempo happy good time consisting of the best remixes and rarites of this years Grammy nominees. Featuring remixed music by everyone from Lady Gaga, La Roux and Rihanna to Kanye West, Vampire Weekend and The Roots. Something for everybody for sure. Shout out to Myk31 for the cover.

New music, classics, remixes and edits from Mark Ronson, Kanye West, The Presets, Outkast, James Brown, Duran Duran, Chromeo, The xx, Brand Nubian and more. Shout to Matthew Vu for the art direction.
